Taiwan mollifies US with weapons pledge
Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian said his country will only use its Hsiung Feng 2E cruise missile after consulting Washington in a future conflict.

In a meeting with foreign reporters, Chen said : "We would not use them without seeking the United States' opinion first." He added that Taiwan would not use such weapons against non-military targets in China.
