Lavelle, Nixon, and the White House Tapes
Tape recordings from the Nixon White House shed new light on an old controversy that Air Force Gen. John D. Lavelle ordered unauthorized bombing missions into North Vietnam.

Recently released White House audio recordings of Oval Office conversations as well as formerly classified JCS message traffic revealed that Lavelle had authorization from President Richard Nixon at that time.
