Northrop studies future USAF lift
Northrop Grumman is the other company that won a contract to develop the AMC-X tanker/transport for 2012 demonstration. Lockheed Martin got the other contract.

The aircraft will combine short take-off and landing (STOL) with high subsonic speed.

The AMC-X is a family of aircraft that could begin replacing the Lockheed C-130 Hercules some time between 2015 and 2025.
