Egypt Likely First Customer For Chinook CHAPS Sale: Boeing
Boeing says Egypt could be the first customer for the Chinook Cargo Helicopter Alternate Procurement Strategy (CHAPS) program.
Under the CHAPS plan, third parties can buy U.S. Army CH-47Ds marked for remanufacture into CH-47Fs at about half the price of a new-build CH-47D. The money from each D-model aircraft sold, plus the Army funding budgeted for the CH-47F remanufacture, will buy the Army a brand new CH-47F.
