ASDF plans missile data network
Japan is building a mobile communications network to allow missile data detected by Maritime Self-Defense Force vessels to be swiftly transmitted to Air Defense Command Headquarters in Tokyo.
The high-speed communications system will be completed by 2009 and allows transmission of large volumes of data. Seven radar sites in Hokkaido, Akita, Niigata, Kyoto, Shimane, Yamaguchi and Nagasaki will be linked by the network.
