U.S. missile science slumping
The Defense Science Board is worried that the United States will lose much of its expertise in long-range missile technology as veteran engineers and scientists retire.

The report said that there are only 20,000 research and development scientists and engineers working in the industry as a whole, down from more than 140,000 in the mid-1980s.
