HAL to build combat trainer jet:
India's state-run aviation major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) plans to design and develop a twin-engine combat trainer jet for the Indian Air Force (IAF). The new trainers is expected to replace the 66 British-made Hawk advanced jet trainers (AJT) being acquired by IAF in two phases between 2007-12.
