South Africa boosted radar capabilities thru Gripen purchase

By buying the Gripen fighter, South Africa was able to develop a team of young radar professionals.

They gained experience by making changes to the PS-05A to suit South Africa’s needs. A weather-mapping mode was added and changes were made to the sea search mode as well.
